Am I eligible for membership?

If you are an Enrolled or Registered Nurse working in the perioperative environment, you are eligible to join as an ordinary member – this is full membership. All memberships are for individuals – SAPNA does not offer corporate memberships.

What if I am not a registered Nurse – can I still join SAPNA?

If you are not a nurse but work in a perioperative environment, or are associated with perioperative care, you can apply to join as an Affiliate member.

Why should I consider membership to SAPNA?

Joining SAPNA could be the most important step you take in your professional development. With SAPNA’s Free-to-Member Education Sessions and substantially discounted registrations to SAPNA State Conference, County Study Weekend and access to ACORN events and free webinars, you have many opportunities to remain up-to-date and meet your CPD obligations.

What are the benefits of SAPNA membership?

There are many benefits to SAPNA membership – and this includes benefits that your automatic membership to ACORN brings.

Can I join at any time?

You can join SAPNA at any time, and receive 12 months membership from the date we process your membership application. Your renewal date will be on the anniversary of your joining date.

How much is membership and how can I pay?

Current membership rates are:

  • Ordinary member joining for the first time – $135 including GST
  • Affiliate member joining for the first time – $135 including GST
  • Past member (membership lapsed) re-joining – $135 including GST
  • Renewing a current membership – $125 including GST

Payment when joining or re-joining SAPNA may be paid by credit card or direct deposit, while current members can renew online. Details are on the application forms:

What is the difference between Ordinary membership and Affiliate membership?

Ordinary members are Enrolled or Registered nurses , while Affiliate members are non-nurses associated with perioperative care, or nurses working in a different field but who have an interest in perioperative nursing. All memberships are for individuals – SAPNA does not offer corporate memberships.

How long does my membership last for?

All memberships are for 12 months.

What happens after I join?

You will receive via email a certificate, a receipted tax invoice, and welcome letter.  From the date you join, you will receive SAPNA notifications via email when we open registrations for various events. You will also begin to receive notifications from ACORN on webinars and other offers.

When do I get membership to ACORN?

SAPNA and ACORN are separate entities who work cooperatively and collaboratively to achieve our objectives. Once you have joined SAPNA, please allow us 3 working days to establish your membership with ACORN. You will receive a separate email from ACORN when your membership account is ready to activate.

How do I update my membership information?

On joining you will be issued a website logon and password for access to the SAPNA website member area. You can submit a change of details form online.

What happens if I move to a different organisation?

Your membership moves with you – it is for you as an individual. Just let us know of the changes to your contact and organisation details.

What happens if I move interstate?

Your membership stays with SAPNA until it expires, although you may register with the perioperative nursing association in your new state in order to receive information on events.

How will I know when my membership is due for renewal?

You will receive an email 30 days prior to your membership renewal date – and you will be able to renew and pay online via a link provided.
